Objectives

Women in Engineering (WinE) seeks to promote the study and practice of engineering among females by supporting and encouraging women engaged in engineering and ensuring equal opportunities for both genders in pursuing engineering careers. It also contributes to and positively influences policy and decision-making at national and international levels.

Key activities include the annual WinE Forum, career counselling in schools, workplace visits, mentoring female science and engineering students, providing awards and scholarships, and fostering networking and support among women in engineering.

Driving Impact Through Structured Initiatives for Women in Engineering

Girls in STEM Outreach Programme

WinE Ghana organizes outreach visits to schools across the country, where female engineers interact directly with students to share their career journeys, break stereotypes, and introduce engineering as an exciting and achievable career path.

Activities include interactive STEM demonstrations, career guidance sessions, and hands-on learning experiences designed to spark curiosity and confidence in young girls.

This programme provides members with access to relevant, practical, and industry-aligned training opportunities.

Industry Linkage Programme (ILP)

This programme connects members with internship and job opportunities across engineering sectors.

WinE Ghana collaborates with industry partners, engineering firms, and institutions to create pathways for members to gain hands-on experience and transition successfully into the workforce.

In addition to placement support, members receive guidance on CV writing, interview preparation, and career planning.

WinE Forum

This is the flagship annual gathering of members of Women in Engineering Ghana, bringing together female engineers, students, industry leaders, and stakeholders. The forum provides a platform for knowledge sharing, mentorship, networking, and inspiration while highlighting opportunities for women to grow and lead within the engineering profession.

World Engineering Day

In commemoration of WED for Sustainable Development, WinE Ghana highlights the role of engineering in driving sustainable development. Activities may include public lectures, educational outreach, and other engagements.

International Womens Day

Each year, WinE celebrates International Women’s Day by recognizing the achievements of women engineers and promoting gender equality within the profession.
